Sunday Bugs

A walk around the garden this morning to access what I need to do today after the heat of yesterday reveals plenty of work and evidence of the wildlife munching on my plants.

Here’s who was in my garden today … (Click to enlarge. Apologies for the quality of some of the photos – I’m still learning how to use the macro lens).

[one_half]Bug One[/one_half]

[one_half_last]Bug Two[/one_half_last]

[one_half]Bug Three[/one_half]

[one_half_last]Centipede?[/one_half_last]

[one_half]Ugg, whats that?[/one_half]

[one_half_last]Eating my Lilies[/one_half_last]

[one_half]A friendly fly[/one_half]

[one_half_last]Ok, he's welcome![/one_half_last]

I’m not keen to kill everything that is eating my plants. Aphids … those I have to zap (and white fly etc), the cutworms have to go and those that decimate my Lilies? Sorry guys, not on my turf!

But beetles and caterpillars? I think they all serve a purpose in the garden so i’m leaving them be. I hope they enjoyed the lunch!

Dominated by large trees on a medium sized property, my garden is very shaded. With no “full sun” areas I have to plant shade and partial shade loving plants. I love shrubs and flowers including camellias and azaleas but Roses and Irises are my favourite and getting these to thrive is a challenge …

I Love the photos of the Sunday Bugs. So much going on there in your garden. Oh I can’t wait to get my hands dirty. I have been enjoying reading your postings.

Hi Chris, It is so interesting to see what else lives in your garden!! Your photos are GREAT – you are getting there and they show the beetle thingies perfectly. Wow!! I love the photo of the wasp and the spider – I would imagine you interupted a fight there!! They both look so aggresive!! And I have to agree with Donna – I LOVE the bee!!! So cute.
Me, I planted all my Ferndale purchases. It was much cooler today, but I felt lethargic and no energy. Started the weekend with a sore throat….hmmm! But I managed to spend some time in the garden. Made me feel better. I’ll upload my blog later and tell you what I did. Hugs and have a great week.

Ohh, is that black thing a wasp? I didn’t know what it was. Both Dexter and I were quite scared of if, haha!

Sorry to hear you aren’t feeling hundreds – take yourself to bed with a hot-toddy and take care of yourself xxxx
