Good Hope Nursery was established a quarter of a century ago in Hout Bay, and moved to its present location over the road from Cape Point Nature Reserve in 1986. They have been growing indigenous plants for sale to other retail nurseries ever since, and are proud that Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and Table Mountain National Park are among their valued customers.
At last the general public is becoming aware of environmental issues and that our country has a multitude of tough drought resistant plants. With water restrictions increasing over the years, the public interest in indigenous plants has been remarkable. To cater for this demand we have increased our range and decided to open our nursery to the general public on a larger scale.
We have hundreds of indigenous species on our data base, these range from local fynbos to sub tropical trees, and the majority of these are grown at the nursery under harsh Cape Point weather conditions. Our well trained staff uses only organic growing media, fertilizers and pest control.
Our sales and landscaping staff will be able to assist you in choosing the right plants for your particular garden and advising on how best to maintain your garden with respect to feeding, watering and pruning. Using plants suitable to your environment means that watering and maintenance of your garden is much reduced.
So take a drive to Cape Point – a rare treat for some – and 4.5km south of Scarborough is where you will find us. While you are visiting you can relax in our beautiful outdoor tea garden and wander up the succulent footpath while your children play in the playground. Its only 30 minutes from Constantia and well worth the trip!
