Wow – Chris! I am so impressed with your garden and how the apricot kernel mulch can instantly brighten the garden and neaten up corners and small patches! I was just as enthusiastic as you in getting it into my garden yesterday! I thought I would have to work all afternoon to add 20 bags to the edging around the veggie patch!! I am so thrilled with the result and the hardest thing was to carry the bags – but I managed to do 20 square metres all by myself in 1 hour!! They were lightweight and easy to lay down!

Hi Barbie, can you please let me know where can get tons of apricot pips for my driver way (Malgas on The Breede River) … got from Montagu before but they seem to have very little these days. … please my drive way is now looking very sparse and needs “redressing” … many thanks look forward to hearing from you
Where can one obtain the peach pip mulch without breaking the bank. I live in the Northern Suburbs, Cape Town.
Thanks.
Hi Barbie,
I am in dire need of apricot kernels (though not for gardening…)
Can you perhaps help me with a supplier??
I would love to get more info on the cost of these, as I want to do the pathways in our garden. Could you please contact me with some details?Thank you so much
Dirk
That really is a nice-looking mulch! Sort of a mix between gravel and bark. Wish we had something like that here. And isn’t it funny what people in some parts of the world consider to be “weeds”? Apricot trees as weeds? Yes please!!
What? Weeds?I’ll have those any day!! I find this such a lovely looking mulch. And it crunches like stone so you can hear me coming!!
The after picture is amazing but do I understand this correctly. You are using apricot pips as in the large seed in the center? I assume they must come from some kind of processing plant (pun not intended)
I love the rich color. It adds so much to the garden bed.
I don’t suppose you can send any my way 😉
Yes it is the inside kernel casing that is used. I’ll take a real close up photo for you so you can see.
They use this a lot in Montague. Look out for seedlings. Apricot trees ;~)
Oh wow! That would be a bonus
Look so much better! Amazing how a good mulch can dress up the garden. I bet your mulch smells nice, too.
I think this is a good idea using kernels. It is difficult to mulch in our humid weather, especially when it rains frequently, it becomes damp and attract disease carrying organisms.
Oh, I must watch out for that during winter. Thanks for the tip.
HI barbie, I want another 10 bags!
I am also so amazed at the total revamp of my garden. So …..you want more!! heehee!! ME TOO!!! I’ll place another order for us! 🙂
COOL!! I can’t believe how great yours looks! LOVE the pathway. Wow, it really pretties things up in a very natural way. I wonder how they will age? Guess we will have to keep doing it every few months, but its so cheap, and worth it.
Oh for sure. I have no problem adding to this to brighten things up! At least if I eventually want to grow something in this area, I don’t have to worry about having to remove stones.
Wow, wow! It looks amazing! Absolutely loving it!
