Window Dressing

One of the things about my garden that gives me immense pleasure is the simple act of appreciating the garden from the inside. Like beautiful paintings hanging on a wall, so the garden looks to me through the windows of my home and I appreciate nature’s “art work” every day.

A lot of what I did in my garden in the early stages was about the views from the inside. A carefully planted tree on the outside of the property to provide a green canopy, a creeper up a bland wall to create interest, a flowering shrub strategically placed for colour … Like an unfinished painting standing on an easel waiting for the artist to return to it, I help Mother Nature to paint her beauty on my garden canvases. And so the garden has evolved to provide us with a wonderful ambiance from the inside, looking out.

I thought I would share some of my favourite “window art” with you today. These are the views I see every day when I do something as simple as walk from room A to B, sit at my computer or have a bite to eat. I know, I know, they are far from perfect, but I love my garden, even from the inside (sometimes more so as I don’t see the flaws when I’m not up close and personal).

PS: I apologise for the poor photographs – if anyone has any tips on how to take good photographs through windows, I’m all ears!
