I had this shopping list for a whole week and when I finally cleared all the weeds from my veggie patch, I allowed myself the luxury of going to the Nursery, with my best friend of course! It was great – I got almost all the plants I wanted – The main idea was to buy Insect Repelling plants, like the artemesias (Southernwood, Wormwood), Tea Tree and Lemon Verbena, as well as the tonic plants (Comfrey and Yarrow). I managed to get wormwood and lemon verbena. I’ll have to try again end of March/April for the Tea Tree and the rest.
Here are some pics of the sweet flowers I bought – first time I went for the flowers. Must be your influence! I bought Violas and the white Allysums (?) is that the name?
Happy gardening – I’m going to have my hands full this weekend. Now to find a perfect place for them all.

Hi
Need some advice…..Just bought the Mag “Home”……April 2011 issue and on page 95 ( Just ask JJ ) some reader asked a question about Pansies……This will be the first year that I am planting pansies as well…..
Basically reader asked why her pansies died that she planted for the second time in a wheelbarrow…..and JJ replied “Pansies never grow quite as well in the same soil”
Typed in Pansy…….. with google and so far have not come across any info like this…….I have bought 12 pansies…but have planted them in pots…..as I am moving….can’t understand that it can be true…………..that you can’t use the soil twice…..
Perplexed Ani
Hi Ani
I’ve read this too but don’t know why that would be. Lets see what Barbie says about it – she hjas more experience with crop rotation.
Thanx Christine
Gonna do some more research later………
Found this cool bird feeder ….think Barbie might like it for her birds…

Your blog is so beautiful…I will be back just to soak up your sunshine. Thanks go to Blotanical for leading me to you.
Hi Ricki, Thank you for that. It is always such a pleasure meeting garden-lovers. I’ll keep the photo’s rolling!
Hi Barbie – The Pansy photo is gorgeous! (pansy, viola? same thing?). I have my little tray of 6 you bought me and the more I look at them the more I love them – Thanks!!! I think I have to get more. Apparantly they flower all winter long, but they need sun. So I only have few spots they will work, but I’m going to give them a go. Nice replacement for the Petunias. xxx
Such a pleasure. I know that I’m going to fall in love with them too and it won’t be long before I get more.
I am looking for candy striped mum seeds. I can’t find any anywhere! I must must must have them!
I’ll keep a look out for them here!
What are there? Pansies?
Lizzie what is the real / family name of Mums? I saw them somewhere on a blog the other day but can’t find it again. They aren’t called “mums” here, they have a different name here – I want to see if I can find any here.
I’m jealous. We’re still a long way from going flower shopping. I love planting pansies as soon as they’re available to get some color going!
Pansies are still one of my favourite dainty flowers – I love the colours and they look like faces! Always cheerful.
Hard to believe it is that time again. Here, we will be waiting as many nurseries open on Memorial Day.
Good to know you are going into spring now – good gardening times ahead.
Oh, now I need to go to the nursery!!!! Your purchases are darling.
Thanks Holley – that was my first shopping list for the month!
Allysum is so sweet, it’s almost too sweet for me! I’ll probably get some for a container on the deck, but we’re over a month away from being able to buy those types of plants here.
Hi Alan, yes – I am more of a practical plant person. I’d rather plant something that is medicinal or edible, but I heard that Allysum is beneficial to your garden, so I need to diversify abit to help my garden to grow.
Your flowers are pretty. Happy Gardening!
Thank you – I can’t wait for the weekend to start!
