Micro all grown up

Micro watching TVDay 25

Micro has officially flown beyond the boundary of the garden wall. Now, very confidently flys from the kitchen to the deck and then to the tree behind the wall at the back. I also think that she is a he – just watching the mannerisms of the male birds when they come into the garden to feed. He doesn’t take the feeding syringe anymore – now is eating seeds on his own and drinking water and splashing in the water bowl. He has also claimed the diningroom table as his own and if your hand comes anywhere near his seeds, he jumps at you and pecks at you! So cute!! We play catch-catch!! He is so part of the family now, I would miss him if he decides to go back into the wild!

Country living is the best! Being a true spirit of the earth, my garden is all about vegetables and fruit trees and herbs and chickens roaming free. I was keen to really start gardening when we moved to Philadelphia in 2005, but not your typical suburban-type garden – sterile and bug-free! I wanted an edible garden.

Shampies!! he is sitting on Hannes’ head here in the office! Looks very happy now and relaxed. I am a bit worried now – I didn’t think he would venture out away from the back stoep where he sits all afternoon. Maybe he went looking for us. Also, he still thinks the world is a loveable and cuddly place and I did not teach him about the harsh world out there!

Oh no!! Thats very upsetting, I hope he is going to be fine. Can you get him a little Nesty or something he can hide in outside?

Shame! We had our first bad event in the outside world. We had to go out for the day on a photo shoot and Micro had to stay the day outside. We got home to a stressed out bird and a wound on the top of his head. Oh dear. Not nice! He won’t leave my shoulder. Hope it will heal and that it wasn’t a deep wound.

Micro looks gorgeous! What a sweet pet to have. Interesting that he is flying around but coming back into the house. I hope he stays …
