March in two gardens for Garden Bloggers Bloom Day

The simmering heat of Summer should be behind us on this our 13th combined post for March’s Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day. Instead we are battling temperatures in the high 30’s this week – 39° today again and not even a hint of a breeze! We are both looking for that zing again that has us babbling on about our gardens. The heat has taken its toll, but with the resilience we have […]

Summer Heat getting to me

Summer is getting intense! We have had days of nonstop high temperatures and I can’t protect my garden from it. It has been close to 40 degrees here with no letting up. In the early mornings I take this time to water as much as I can as well as early evening – I’m watering twice a day! But the damage is done…. I am devastated by the damage to my huge […]

This ever happen to you?

Impatiens

I don’t know why but right now I’ve lost a bit of interest in my garden and am a little disappointed. Nothing fun is going on in it, there are visible and invisible things and creatures destroying plants and the sun has done a fair amount of damage whilst I wasn’t paying attention. Growth has been great all round, unfortunately too great in some areas. Once again my lavender plants have become […]

Who’s living in my sunflowers?

I have come to the conclusion that my favourite flower ever is the Sunflower. I am so enjoying the tall, sunny, friendly giants in my summer garden because they are more than just a Sunflower. They give shade with their big elephant ear -like leaves like an umbrella placed under a hot, unforgiving sun. Their huge colourful flowers bring such pleasure, but when the flower is spent, it droops and hangs and […]

Holiday Harvests

Whew! All I can say is I LOVE SUMMER! I am in the middle of really enjoying a few days of rest and relaxation. I had my beautiful family here with me on Christmas eve and it was a magical day. The weather was sunny and hot and the garden was glowing. I spent all week getting it to look nice and in tip top condition and it was so worth it. […]

Green November

I love my early morning ritual with getting up – open up for the chickens – kisses and hugs, fresh seeds, greens and water – put the coffee on – empty the trash – pack the dishes from the night before – pour the coffee and my morning begins…… I love sitting out on my deck in summer. The sun is way up there early in the morning and the birds and bees […]

The 30 Day Challenge – Day 8

I am grateful today for my camera! I do not know how I would be able to share all that I can without being able to capture the moment. The camera is my third eye and sees things closer and better that I can. It holds the moment suspended in time and the image is available for all to see for ever…. What a brilliant gardening tool to have!

Art of Nature

No words can describe the beauty of nature. It is the way we look at plants – the up close and personal! I find this the most captivating part of gardening – the way we see our garden! The light – the colour – the texture! All so fascinating! How gracious nature is with her beauty! Enjoy your garden this week! Happy Gardening xxxxx
