Happy Festive Season

Xmas garden 04

I want to wish you all a Happy Festive Season and all the good stuff for 2013. I’m on holiday and enjoying my garden again. I won’t be blogging as much because we lock our office door and the computer is unplugged! I have finally got a book for Christmas that I want to read and the pool is sparkling blue! So, enjoy the holidays !!! Oh yes! My hubby and I [...]

The big reveal

The House that Steffi built!

Finally … I am able to show my daughters new house. It took quite some convincing for her to allow me to publish these and it was on the understanding that I explain that they are still busy varnishing floors, skirting boards are still missing, and, and, and … there are unfinished things all over the place – so please bear that in mind. Still not quite finished (notice the work people [...]

The Old house

Old house

About two weeks ago I showed my daughters ‘new garden’, well, what is going-to-be the garden of her newly built home (see post here … Intimidating). These past two weeks they have been very busy cleaning up the front areas, erecting a wall around the front, paving the driveway, tiling the swimming pool and tiling the outside entertainment area. Its looking VERY different to the photos I showed you in that post [...]

Summer in Two Gardens for Garden Bloggers Bloom Day

A few of our favourite blooms ...

The summer heat has arrived with a bang! The temperature is rising and the cool spring days have gone. The holiday season is here and the gardeners are keen to get the sprinklers on and new plants in the beds. Time to enjoy the weather and the lazy summer days just gazing into the garden. Here’s what’s blooming in Christine’s garden in December 2012 My garden is flourishing and I’m really thrilled with it. [...]

Destruction 101

04 Destruction 12

If I had to commentate the happenings in my back garden it would go something like this – “….The garden was devastated by Hurricane Skollie and Tornado Vanilla….” I am shattered at the total destruction 2 small chickens can inflict on an area large enough to hold a large house!! The garden is a total mess and the beautiful stone path around the house has been scratched to death. I have lost [...]

Seasonal Celebrations in the Rose Bed

And even more today!

If you come to visit me you’ll ring the door bell from outside and then as you enter and close the door, this is the first thing you will see … It’s what I see every time I look out of my back door and its bursting with blooms right now. In this small corner of my back garden, the roses are maturing and much larger this year. Covered in so many [...]

Garden Bloggers Harvest Day in December

01 GBHD December 02

Can’t believe that this is the twelfth Garden Bloggers Harvest Day that  Two Gardens have posted. Summer has arrived in the Southern Hemisphere and the gum boots, wheel barrows and garden spades are toiling along side these two happy gardeners. The year has flown with lessons learned – both good and imperfect – always with sincerity and good intentions. This month will show what we have lovingly added to the edible part of the [...]

A Short but Sweet December Harvest

Rosemary and edible Viola thriving in shade

It’s a small harvest. Lots of herbs we use daily and I pick as I need, no big baskets full of produce here this month, just regular picking of the most delightful Basil I’ve grown yet. We’re eating it raw in salads and putting in everything it seems. This one is Basil “minuette”.  It is much smaller (smaller leaves, smaller plant) than the other Basil I grow which has a much stronger [...]

Intimidating …

Intimidating?

I have a new project. It’s extremely intimidating. Let me share … In November last year My daughter and her partner took ownership of a house they bought, in the same block around the corner, from my home. It’s a fabulous area* and they bought at a great price. Reason the price was so great is the house on the property was so neglected it required extensive work. It was in fact [...]

Hello Summer

Petunias and Star jasmine leaping

It’s the end of November and on Saturday we slip into Summer and the start of the festive season … where did this year go? As the working year slowly draws to a close I am, at last, finding more time to spend in the garden. I’m delighting in the fact that many of my plants are finally leaping … Star jasmine is in full flower and the scent is wonderful all [...]
